Understanding course levels

Level key:

Level 1 – no sewing experience necessary or in need of refreshering

Level 2 – having basic sewing experience (for example, have experience of sewing a skirt)

Level 3 –Intermediate sewing skills (for example, have experience of sewing a basic dress or blouse)

Level 4 – Advanced sewing skills (for example, having experience of sewing a pair of trousers)

Level 5 – experienced achieving professional looking garments and achieving a perfect fit


Tote Shopping Bag for Beginners


3 hour workshop



Make a fashionable tote bag, while learning how to sew. This project is ideal for beginners or those who have a little experience sewing experience.

During this workshop you learn:

        Set up a sewing machine

        Thread the machine

        Wind the bobbin and set it in the machine

        Use basic sewing tools

        Lay and cut out fabric

        Cut fabric correctly

        Apply interfacing

Things you will need:  Shears/fabric scissors, tape measure, small sharp pointed scissors, pins and a seam ripper. Don't worry if you haven't got everything on the list, we may be able to provide some things.

You will also need to bring with you 1 metre of medium to heavyweight fabric of your choice, suitable weight interfacing and matching thread. Trimming is optional.

You may also purchase one of our fabric packs if you are unable to obtain your own fabric. The fabric pack will be sold as a whole and you will not be able to purchase indiviudals items from it.

All courses take place at Unit K103, The Biscuit Factory, Tower Bridge Business Complex, 100 Clements Road, London, SE16 4DG. The nearest tube station is Bermondsey on the Jubilee line.

Booking Terms:

All bookings must be paid for in full at time of booking.  If you do not wish to pay online, then you may do so by sending a cheque.  Your place will not be confirmed until the cheque has been received and payment cleared.  Please contact us should you wish to pay by this method.

All fees are non-refundable in the event that you are unable to attend.  You may however be transferred onto another course or to the same course on a different date (subject to places being available). 

Classes are limited to 8 students and at least 3 students are needed to make a class.  In the event of under-subscription, classes may be cancelled or postponed.  We will give you as much notice as possible should this happen and you will be able to  transfer to another course or a receive full refund.  We will not be held liable for any out-of-pocket expenses incurred as a result.
